I surprised the two of them and their bridal party with “She said yes” t-shirts, with the couple’s photo on it. Floral arrangements, large mylar balloons in their initials and chalkboard welcome sign added to the rest of the décor.
As the saying goes, there’s no place like home. So, home was the first place we thought of when we planned of hosting an engagement party for our daughter Tash and son in law, Evan. It gave us an opportunity to welcome the future in laws to meet our family and celebrate with the bridal party in a relaxed and intimate ambiance.
Customizing and personalizing the event for them was easy as they both have a lot of photos together that were framed and some whimsically displayed. I had a couple of their engagement photos enlarged (on poster boards from Walgreens), which were shot during our recent visit to the Philippines to introduce Evan to grandma.
We had it catered by Blue Agave of Yorba Linda who prepared delicious Southwestern and Tex-Mex menu, bursting with irresistible flavors! Steak and chicken on skewers, carnitas and enchiladas were served, together with sweet corn cake, tortillas, rice, beans and unending chips, guacamole and salsa. The dessert table, some store-bought and some custom ordered, were as pretty as they were yummy with fruit tart, cookies, churros, fresh fruits, tres leches shooters and a naked cake, embellished with touches of flowers (of course!) Gold and white wall decors of paper pin wheels, heart garlands and the word ‘Love’ in foil balloons made a beautiful backdrop for the dessert display. We also had a beverage station which included flavored drinks, fruit infused water, coffee and tea.
The afternoon was filled with excitement, laughter, fun and games. As the party ended, we looked forward for their big day! Here’s to Tash and Evan!
