Thank you to Peggi Ridgway for the nice article on Bloomin’ News about the sale of my shop.

It was a long time coming, I have owned and operated  Fitzgerald’s Flowers and Gifts in Downey, California, since 1990, with my husband and business partner, Ferdinand. Yes, a few months before our 25th year anniversary in the full-service florist business, we found another husband and wife team (Sergio and Chita Avalos) to take over our retail store, and for them to take care of our numerous long-time and new clients, so we can focus on a more specialized business- weddings and events floral decor, consultation and planning. The most difficult part of the process is saying good bye to our dear customers, many of whom had become our friends over the years. We are confident that Sergio and Chita (operating under Chita’s Floral Designs) will continue Fitzgerald’s tradition of caring and excellence in providing personalized service and beautiful quality flowers.

Fitzgerald’s Flowers has been established in 1948 and Ferdinand and I had the honor of meeting the original owner, Mr. James Fitzgerald and his sons in the early 90’s. Now, as we leave the retail part of the business, we take with us the name we have loved and has been a part of our lives.

I feel blessed and grateful for the creative talent that God has given me. After 25 years in the floral industry, I am still as passionate as I have always been. I am excited to move forward to this new venture, Fitzgerald’s Floral Events, and I will continue to create beautiful floral pieces that will add to the wonderful memories in the celebration of weddings or any special event.

Turning a new leaf, from Fitzgerald’s Flowers & Gifts to Fitzgerald’s Floral Events. Cheers!
